Privacy

The short version: Wordwinter doesn’t keep your messages. There are no accounts, and nothing you write, upload or say is saved by Wordwinter.

What happens when you press Generate

Your text, and any images or voice recording, are sent to OpenAI’s API, which writes the message. The result comes back to your screen. Wordwinter doesn’t store any of it, and its logs record only things like the mode, tone and how long it took, never the content.

What OpenAI does with it

OpenAI doesn’t use what’s sent through its API to train its models, and Wordwinter hasn’t opted in to sharing it. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse, and then deletes it.

What is stored

To stop any one person using up everyone’s daily limit, Wordwinter counts requests per IP address. The address is scrambled first, so it can’t be read back, and the counts expire within two days.

Your own browser remembers your theme and your last mode and tone. That stays on your device.

To learn what’s useful, Wordwinter uses PostHog to count visits and which features are used, such as the mode, the tone, or copying a message. A random ID in your browser lets it tell when someone comes back. It never includes what you write, upload or say, and it’s switched off if your browser sends Do Not Track.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any web host, handles your IP address to deliver the page.
